About us
Ystervegter Forge was established by artist blacksmith, Coenraad Vegter in 1997 after gaining first hand experience in the Art of Blacksmithing in England.
At Ystervegter Forge I specialise in the hot forming and shaping of metal in the old traditional blacksmith way.
My main focus is commission work. This include items like gates, railings, burglar bars, tools and many more. I also produce a vast range of tools, furniture, decorative architectural and household items that can be bought or ordered from my website. I also host training and experience days on a one on one basis or small group not bigger than four.
Commissioning me is an easy process. First contact is made with a discussion of the clients requirements. This is followed with a client meeting and site visit to get a feel for the location, environment, practical elements and considerations of the site, clients wishes and budget. Initial designs are drawn up and reviewed. Once final design is approved and quote accepted, work commence.
Ystervegter Forge is based on the northern slope of the Magalies Mountain on the outskirts of Pretoria. I do commissions all over South Africa and have pieces of work in many other countries.
